BYD Unveils ETT 44 Heavy-Duty Electric Tractor at IAA Transportation 2026

BYD presented a comprehensive portfolio of zero-emission transport solutions at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover on 14 September, anchored by the new ETT 44 electric heavy-duty tractor. The flagship 4x2 vehicle delivers over 1,000 horsepower in its class and maintains a 600-kilometre operational range, designed from the ground up as a native electric platform for long-haul missions capable of replacing diesel operations.

The ETT 44 integrates ultra-fast FLASH Charging technology capable of 1.5-megawatt charging speeds. This enables battery replenishment from 20 to 80 per cent in approximately 20 minutes, delivering an additional 400 kilometres of range. The architecture combines advanced battery systems with driver-focused ergonomics and multi-level safety features including five-star Euro NCAP rating and onboard advanced driver-assistance systems.

Executive Vice President Stella Li noted that BYD applies FLASH Charging technology proven in passenger vehicles to commercial truck operations. The development reflects BYD's Total Cost of Mobility philosophy, integrating vehicle efficiency, charging performance and energy procurement into a single ecosystem approach.

The ETT 44 announcement accompanies BYD's expanded commercial vehicle range, including rigid trucks designated T020 and T028 for regional distribution and specialised applications. Additional offerings address last-mile delivery, sanitation and municipal services, sharing foundational battery and charging technologies. BYD positions its integrated approach—spanning vehicle development, battery expertise, charging infrastructure and energy management—as a pathway for fleet operators transitioning to sustainable commercial transport across Europe.
