The newcomer launched into China's market as a competitive EREV model against rivals such as the recently refreshed Li Auto L9. Pricing spans from 289,900 yuan (43,145 USD) for the five-seat variant to 399,900 yuan (59,520 USD) for the six-seat configuration.
The Freelander 8 stands out with advanced technologies including a 896-line roof-mounted LiDAR sensor capable of detecting obstacles the size of a beverage can from 120 meters away, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 processor enabling Navigate On Autopilot functionality on urban and highway routes.
The cabin features a 46.3-inch panoramic display and a 15.6-inch floating monitor. The vehicle runs a proprietary operating system described as the first "human brain-like" OS, providing multiple functions from conversational AI to child safety monitoring.
The Freelander 8 combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 60.3 kWh CATL battery pack, delivering an electric range of 310 kilometers under CLTC standards. The dual-motor setup produces a combined peak output of 610 kilowatts (818 horsepower) and maximum torque of 813 newton-meters, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds.
The vehicle incorporates the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system co-developed with Huawei, featuring rear-wheel steering at 10-degree angles and a 5.15-meter turning radius. It completed nine safety tests across multiple global regions and features industry-leading 3.14-meter dual side curtain airbags.
