Tesla Opens Interest Registration for Cybercab Fleets

Tesla launched a webpage titled "Help Us Build Our Robotaxi Network" to gather interest from companies seeking commercial participation. The form collects standard information including name, email, phone number, company name, and target deployment region. Applicants select one or more categories: Cybercab fleet vehicle purchasing, mobility hubs and infrastructure, event collaboration, or other options. Tesla stated that representatives will follow up with parties expressing commercial interest.

This move represents a strategic shift for the manufacturer, which previously offered no public ordering path for the autonomous vehicle first shown as a concept at the October 2024 "We, Robot" event. The form went live on 3 September 2026, coinciding with Tesla's invite-only Cybercab launch event in Austin, Texas.

Tesla has already registered dozens of Cybercabs with Texas authorities and conducted testing on public streets around Austin. The company's existing Robotaxi service, currently operating modified Model Y vehicles in parts of Texas and Florida, is expected to incorporate Cybercabs as production ramps at Gigafactory Texas. This expansion signal indicates Tesla views the two-seat robotaxi as more than an in-house fleet asset.

Investors and fleet operators have previously discussed acquiring groups of Cybercabs for deployment on Tesla's ride-hailing network, with Tesla collecting a platform fee. High-profile figures have stated intentions to purchase fleets if Tesla permits third-party ownership. The new form offers those parties a direct registration path rather than waiting for conventional configuration channels. Tesla has not yet published pricing or delivery timelines for fleet customers, though the company previously discussed a target price between 25,000 and 30,000 USD per vehicle.
