Geely Unveils 2.2 MW Charging Technology to Challenge BYD

Geely today unveiled its Geely Smart Charge station, an advanced charging platform powered by its Xingrui PowerMind energy model. The station delivers a single-gun peak power output of 2,250 kW, establishing a new industry record.

The technology operates through three core functions: Extreme Charge, Smart Charge, and Auto Charge. The system employs thermal prediction algorithms to forecast battery temperature changes 30 seconds in advance, enabling dynamic power adjustment. Test data from the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC) showed that a Lynk & Co 10 maintained temperatures below 55°C for 57% of total charging time, with a maximum recorded temperature of 64°C during charging from 10% to 97%.

Geely introduced its new-generation Aegis Golden Brick ultra-short blade batteries alongside the charging technology. The 12C variant, measuring 395 mm and featured in Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001, achieves a peak charging rate of 12C, charging from 10% to 70% in approximately 4 minutes 30 seconds and to 97% in about 8 minutes 40 seconds.

The company aims to deploy over 100,000 charging guns nationwide by end of 2027, with more than 50,000 being Geely Smart Charge units. First-time owners of new models equipped with this technology will receive a charging allowance of 1,000 yuan annually for two years, valid for vehicles purchased before 1 January 2028. Battery warranty coverage has been enhanced from 8 years/150,000 km to 8 years/200,000 km for eligible models.
